Petrofac Secures $130MM PDO Awards

Petrofac has secured a new contract, and an additional scope of work, with Petroleum Development Oman.

Petrofac revealed Tuesday that it has secured a new contract, and an additional scope of work, with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) worth a combined value of approximately $130 million.

The new contract award is an engineering, procurement and construction management services deal for the Mabrouk North East Development Project in Oman. The additional scope of work awarded is to provide further services for PDO’s Yibal Khuff Project.

“This latest project award under the long-term framework agreement with PDO for Mabrouk North East, and additional scope of work for the Yibal Khuff Project, both further underpin our significant track record and commitment to delivering value in Oman,” Elie Lahoud, group managing director of engineering and construction, said in a company statement.

“Our focus will remain on safe operations and maximizing in-country value through the continued development of local workforce competence and strong supply chain partnerships,” Lahoud added.

Earlier this month, Petrofac revealed that its joint venture with SOCAR had secured a project management services contract to support BP’s operations in Azerbaijan and Georgia. During the same month, Petrofac revealed that it had secured two new framework agreements for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services.

Petrofac describes itself as an international service provider to the oil and gas production and processing industry. The company has 31 offices and around 11,500 staff worldwide, according to its website.

In Petrofac’s latest trading update, Ayman Asfari, the group chief executive, said the company remains on course to report good results for 2019.
