Lance Bass producing a NSYNC movie but it’s not what you think

Former NSYNC member, Lance Bass, is producing a film based on the popular late 90s boy band but it won’t be going down the typical biopic route we’re all used to.

While the film is based on a true story, it’s not so much a true story about the band but more about a pair of NSYNC superfans that followed the band around on tour in 2001. The two real-life friends used winnings from The Price is Right to purchase a motor home and embarked on a journey to follow the band on their fourth and final tour. I don’t know about you, but this sounds way more interesting than finding out who came up with the complicated lyrics for “It’s Gonna Be Me.”

TriStar Pictures recently picked up the film and it will be produced by Bass and Cindy Cowan, whose familiar credit includes the underrated dark comedy, VERY BAD THINGS. The concept was sold as a buddy road trip movie mixed with the style of the musical comedy, PITCH PERFECT. Oddly enough I can picture it and heaven help me, I’m intrigued.

It hasn’t been determined if Bass or his former NSYNC bandmates Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and JC Chasez will appear in the film but their music will play a major part within the story. Bass also hints that the film could have life as a Broadway musical after the film adaptation. The more I get through reporting this story I’m starting to feel like this is a film we didn’t know we needed.

Are YOU down for this offbeat road trip comedy? While you mull that over, I’m going to revisit “No Strings Attached” and remember the simpler times of the year 2000.
