Day of the Dead TV series coming to Syfy
Syfy must have faith in the project because the show received a straight-to-series order. This move was also able to be made because it’s a low-cost co-production from indie studios that afford Syfy the flexibility to take that kind of chance. The 10-episode series is produced by Cartel Entertainment, the film and TV production, management and financing company behind Shudder’s Creepshow.
The TV remake will tell the story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. It is described as “an ode to Romero’s famous flesh-eaters that reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry zombies trying to rip them apart.”
The original DAY OF THE DEAD was released in 1985 and was the third installment in Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD series. THE DAY OF THE DEAD has been remade twice for the big screen with the most recent remake released in 2018.
Are YOU down for a TV version of DAY OF THE DEAD or are you all zombied out after too many seasons The Walking Dead? The DAY OF THE DEAD television adaptation is expected to premiere in 2021.
