Ares Management names ex Partners Group exec as new head of ESG
Ares Management Corporation has renewed its commitment to environmental, social and governance, with the appointment of Adam Heltzer as managing director and head of ESG.
Heltzer joins from fellow buyout house Partners Group, where he was head of ESG & sustainability.
In his new role Heltzer will lead the firm’s global ESG initiatives in collaboration with Ares’ investment teams and portfolio companies.
Ares said in a statement that it is looking to establish a more robust framework for reporting against key performance indicators across its credit, private equity and real estate strategies.
Heltzer previously served as a global leadership fellow at the World Economic Forum and also worked at The Louis Berger Group and CG/LA Infrastructure.
“We are excited to have Adam join us as Head of ESG at Ares. With over 15 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of overseeing ESG value creation and risk mitigation at Partners Group, a well-regarded leader of ESG practices, we believe Adam will help to ensure that we are fulfilling our commitment to adhering to ESG best practices while generating attractive long-term returns for our investors,” said Ares chief executive officer and president Michael Arougheti.
“ESG has been, and continues to remain, a strategic priority for Ares and we look forward to sharing further updates on our ESG efforts and progress going forward.”
Earlier this year Ares agreed to buy Hong Kong-based asset manager SSG Capital.
The alternatives major is currently looking to raise up to $9.25bn for its sixth corporate flagship private equity fund in following on from the close of its $3bn US senior direct lending fund and €1.8bn fifth European real estate fund last year.
In January, the buyout giant named former CDPQ private equity head Stephane Etroy as its new head of European private equity.
